Botox post care
instructions and FAQs
Botox and Dysport are both neurotransmitters. They work by temporarily paralyzing muscles. We typically use these products to minimize and prevent the appearance of wrinkles on the forehead, between the brows, and around the eyes.
Botox can also be used to minimize the appearance of a gummy smile, make the lips appear plumper, thin the jawline, and more. Talk to your provider about advanced Botox options we offer.
Why does my head hurt?
Headaches happen after about 10% of injections and are completely normal. If you are not bruising, we recommend taking 500mg of Tylenol.
When will I see results?
Botox reaches full effect in 7-10 days. Dysport reaches full effect in 3-5. They both typically last around 3 months. We find some patients switch back and forth between the two and others find one they prefer and stick with it.
Will I bruise?
Bruising is uncommon with Botox injections. If you do think you are getting a bruise, avoid caffeine, ibuprofen and alcohol -- these can make it worse! Try icing the area or taking an Arnika pill (we have these available for purchase!) to heal faster.
What are the little bumps on my skin?
Little bumps are completely normal and should resolve within 30 mins of injection. Occasionally, a bump can last a day or two, often the result of a bruise. Try icing the area.
Do I need a touch-up?
While we do recommend waiting two weeks for final results, if you do feel like you need a follow up let us know via text/email or pop-in for a look!
